Welcome to The Predictor: UEFA Champions League 2010/11!
Simply use the
sign-up screen
to create your entry. You must enter your predicted match results and modify
these at any time up until an hour before the start of each match. So predict the first game's score before 6.45pm BST Tuesday 14th September. Any unpredicted scores will be
given a randomly generated score called a 'Lucky Dip'. Lucky Dip predictions can only yield a maximum of 5 points towards your total.
This competition is divided up into 2 sections:
The GROUP stage (Phase I)
14 September 2010 - 08 December 2010

What you need to do is this:
1. Fill in your name and nickname
2. Fill in the result for each game, including matches in the FINALS stage
3. Select the tournament top goal scorer (You can now change your top goalscorer after the start to any player that hasn't yet scored.)
4. Indicate your joker*
*Joker - this means that for this particular match, you can earn double the points
you get. You only get 1 joker but you can play it at any time during the tournament.
Points system:
5 points - correct match result (win/lose/draw)
5 points - correct group winner
3 points - correct group runner up
The following points do not apply to lucky dips:-
- +1 bonus point if you predict the goals scored for a team (e.g the score is 3-1, but you predicted 3-2. You get the bonus point because you predicted team A to score 3 goals)
- +2 bonus points if you predict a draw but the goals scored is incorrect (e.g the score is 1-1, but you predicted 0-0)
- +5 bonus points - correct match score
Example Scoring:
You will get 12 points if...
you predict Manchester United 2 - 0 Rangers, and the actual score is 2 - 0.
You will get 5 points if...
you predict Manchester United to win 2 - 0 and the actual result is 3 - 1.
You will get 6 points if...
you predict Manchester United to win 2 - 0 and the actual result is 3 - 0. (Bonus for predicting that Rangers score 0 goals).
You will get 1 point if...
you predict Manchester United to win 2 - 0 and the actual result is 2 - 2. (Bonus for predicting that Manchester United score 2 goals).
The FINALS stages (Phase II)
15 February 2011 - 11 May 2011

Everyone's points are zeroed at this stage. The first match prediction must be in by 6:45pm (GMT) on
Tuesday 15th February 2011.
Your last 16 teams will be automatically updated to the actual teams to qualify from each group on Wednesday 8th December 2010
What you need to do is this:
1. Fill in the new result for each game, and the winner
2. Fill in the overall winner for the tournament
Penalty shootouts will NOT be included in the final score as part
of the result. You need to predict a draw, then guess the result winner at this stage.
Points system:
5 points - correct match result (win/lose/draw)
Bonus Points:
12 points - correctly predict tournament winner (original selection before Phase 2 start)
10 points - original predicted winner makes final
6 points - original predicted winner makes semi final
10 points - correctly predict tournament top scorer
The following points do not apply to lucky dips and only if both teams are the same as your predicted teams:-
- +1 bonus point if you predict the goals scored for a team (e.g the score is 3-1, but you predicted 3-2. You get the bonus point because you predicted team A to score 3 goals)
- +2 bonus points if you predict a draw but the goals scored is incorrect (e.g the score is 1-1, but you predicted 0-0)
- +5 bonus points - correct match score
At the end of the tournament, in the event of tied points, the final positions order
will be determined by the least amount of lucky dips done followed by the most correct exact predictions and finally goal difference between predicted & actual goals scored.
