Welcome to The Predictor: Euro 2008 Edition!

Simply use the sign-up screen to create your entry. You must enter your predicted match results and modify these at any time up until the start of the tournament, 5pm Saturday 7th June. If you've not entered all your predictions by this time, your entry will be removed.

This competition is divided up into 2 sections:

The GROUP stage

What you need to do is this:
1. Fill in your name and nickname
2. Fill in the result for each game, including matches in the FINALS stage
3. Select the tournament top goal scorer
4. Indicate your joker*

*Joker - this means that for this particular match, you can earn double the points you get. You only get 1 joker but you can play it at any time during the tournament.

Points system:
5 points - correct match winner
7 points - correct score
1 bonus point - correct team goals

12 points - correct group winner
9 points - correct group runner up

For example, you will get 12 points if...
you predict Italy 2 - 0 Holland, and the actual score is 2 - 0.
you will get 5 points if...
you predict Italy to win 2 - 0 and the actual result is 3 - 1.
you will get 6 points if...
you predict Italy to win 2 - 0 and the actual result is 3 - 0. (Bonus for predicting that Holland score 0 goals).
you will get 1 point if...
you predict Italy to win 2 - 0 and the actual result is 2 - 2. (Bonus for predicting that Italy score 2 goals).

The FINALS stages

For the matches in this stage, you can modify your results at any time up until 7pm on Thursday 19th June.

Your last 8 teams will be automatically updated to the actual teams to qualify from each group on the following days:
Monday 16th June - Groups A & B
Wednesday 18th June - Groups C & D

What you need to do is this:
1. Fill in the new result for each game, and the winner
2. Fill in the overall winner for the tournament

Penalty shootouts will NOT be included in the final score as part of the result. You need to predict a draw, then guess the result winner at this stage.

Points system:
5 points - correct match winner (even if teams differ from your predicted teams, eg you correctly predict QF2 winner to beat QF1 winner in the semis)
7 points - correct score (only if both teams are the same as your predicted teams)
1 bonus point - correct team goals (only if both teams are the same as your predicted teams)

Bonus Points:
25 points - correctly predict tournament winner (original selection before tournament start)
20 points - original predicted winner makes final
12 points - original predicted winner makes semi final
20 points - correctly predict tournament top scorer (must be played before tournament start)

At the end of the tournament, in the event of tied points, the final positions order will be determined by the closest prediction to the total goals scored.
